Mycena galopus var. candida Lange syn. M. galopus var. alba Rea This variety differs from M. galopus below) only in the pure white colour throughout; it also exudes white latex. Found In Europe.
Mycena galopus (Pers. ex Fr.) Kummer Cap 1–2cm across, conical or bell-shaped, grey-brown with umber centre, distinctly lined. Stem 50–100´2–3mm, grey, exuding white latex when broken, base covered in white cottony fibres. Flesh very thin, white. Taste mild, smell not distinctive. Gills adnate, white to grey. Cheilo- and pleurocystidia conspicuous, fusoid, thin-walled. Spores ellipsoid, amyloid, 11–13´5–6m. Habitat amongst leaf litter in woods, hedgerows and on path sides. Season summer to autumn. Very common. Edible but not worthwhile -avoid. Distribution, America and Europe
